Title:  Fictional Farming - Misinformation in the animal protection sphere

Ilinca Tuvene

Legal Caseworker with the Animal Law Foundation.

Although many animal food products make claims that those animals lived happy lives and depict smiling animals grazing on unlimited pastures, many of us know that this is far from the reality for the majority of farmed animals in the UK. This talk will address that reality, with a focus on welfare issues, enforcement issues, labelling, and supply chain opacity. We then explore what the main legal avenues for redress are and discuss the impact that misinformation has on consumers and, in turn, animal welfare. Join us in this important discussion that addresses prevalent marketing practices in the UK.
